I have no clue what the intent may be here but thought I would toss out some information for whoever has the responsibility to consider.

The most accomplished and significant talent I can think of that comes from the Class of 71, be it Byrd or Captain Shreve, is probably Buddy Flett.  Buddy has developed a tremendous national reputation from his days with A Train, the Bluebirds, Kenny Wayne Shepherd etc.  I am sure as a class member he could arrange or put together something for the Byrd people that would be quite memorable.  Buddy can be contacted through his brother, Bruce, who I would imagine is listed in Shreveport and can be reached on FACEBOOK.  If you are unfamiliar with the Buddy Flett story you should look into it.  It is quite remarkable.

From the Captain Shreve view Andy Teekell, located in Austin, TX, has been involved with the music scene there for almost thirty years now.  His band is quite good and he has a wealth of connections in the industry including his brother, Hassell, who spent years in Nashville and played with Kix Brooks at one time.  I can provide contact info for Andrew to the appropriate individual(s).

As a footnote, Clint Fuller passed away in May of this year in Florida.  Clint, or Deacon as he had become known in the Tampa/St Petersburg area, had established himself as quite an accomplished blues guitarist also.

All of us are quite blessed to have been associated with such a talented group of people. For me, Buddy, Clint, and Andrew all go back to the first grade together.

On my way to Houston last May, I detoured to Shreveport just so I could hear Buddy Flett at Bear's on Fairfield. He was great. If you "You Tube" him, you can hear him playing "Alabama Bound" at Leadbelly's grave in Mooringsport. I've bought several copies of his CD, "Mississippi Sea", and am passing it around to my friends. HUtch is right; Buddy can be reached through his brother Bruce, who plays with the Bluebirds. Unfortunately, someone else snarfed up "bluebird" for their email address, so Bruce's address is "Blucebird@aol.com." He can be reached at (318) 773-3034 (cell). Bruce is both a musician and a promoter. He could put you intouch with a number of performers. Sorry to hear about Clint Fuller. We played hoops together on the A.C. Steere team.

I watched Buddy establish himself nationally with A Train etc.  Then for those that don't know...he went out of the country about three years ago.  When he came back he developed viral encephalitis and lost all of his motor skills including playing the guitar.  Kenny Wayne Shepherd put together a benefit at the STRAND with lots of local musicians and national friends of Buddys.  They filled the STRAND up and raised enough money to pay every dime that Buddy owed.   I saw Buddy at George's shortly thereafter and he said.."It's really great Hutch it's like I am in Mrs. Alexander's first grade class at A C Steere all over again and having to relearn eveything.

Despite his tremendous success and talent Buddy has never lost sight of who he is through ego or whatever.  He is as humble and a tremendously nice guy so often talented musicians that have success become stuck on themselves...not Buddy Flett....Buddy is truly an inspiration.

Rick Olin...wow, long time...let me know next time you coming to town and we will go see a lot of talented musicians I know....one thing Shreveport has always been a hotbed for is great musical talent..and there is a bunch here.
