today is the anniversary of that awful day MELODY THATCHER and her parents were taken from us at the hands of a drunk driver. CLINT, MYSELF, ANDY TEEKELL, BUDDY FLETT, MARY FISHER, MARY PORTER and MELODY were all in the same first grade classroom MELODY and MARY P were at my 4th birthdayn party BARBARA and DEBBIE HYSELL entered the group third grade. DEspite everyone going their own way all of us have managed to stay in touch and connected and i am certain its MELODYS spirit behind it. That is the way she was. I consider myself blessed and fortunate to be part of such a unique group of great people. Clint and Melody ARE GREATLY MISSED

Hutch, I still live in Shreveport, and I see Melody's sister, Pat Thatcher, on occasion.  Pat's second daughter is named Melody.  She once told me she nearly named the first daughter Melody, but changed her mind.  She wasn't sure why, but she didn't feel it was the right name at the right time.  She said she was glad she followed her instincts, because the older girl bears a startling resemblance to Melody.  She said it just would have been too much.  I still have fond memories of watching Melody dance, and cheer.  She was such a special talent, and the world missed out on the chance of watching her shine!

I never got to see Clint perform. There are some great articles written on him. One in particular by the Tampa Bay Times. He had a great talent that most of us never knew about.

Clint and I carpooled to Steere for 4 years as he lived around the block.  We often played 'war' in the summer with othe kids in that Broadmoor neighborhood.

Melody was also a gift from first grade class of Mrs. Alexander.  I visited with her on the phone the night before she was killed with her parents.  She was so excited about her opportunity to dance with the Baton Rouge ballet.  We worked on an English lesson never knowing what would the next morning would bring. Two lives that touched many. Gone not forgotten - thanks Hutch!

Clint lived down the street from me during our junior high years.  I think he moved sometime during high school.  His mother Myrtle is one of my bridge partners at the Shreveport Bridge Association clubhouse on Kings Highway.
