Michael died on Jan. 13, 1972. He was returning to Lawrence, Kansas where he was a freshman at the University of Kansas. Apparently he lost control of his car around 4 a.m. when he hit a stretch of icy road and hit a concrete abutment.  He was planning to study law, just like his father. He was buried in Minden, La. According to the paper, the family requested any memorial contributions be sent to the Michael Stone Scholarship Fund, care of Pioneer Bank & Trust Co. and the scholarship would be given to a law student. I think that it was so generous of his family to offer that scholarship. If Mike would have lived, I'm sure he would be doing great things with his life. Michael won many awards for acting, debate, and speech, and he was a great drum major. Such a loss.
