She was the first of us to be removed... not by any meaningful or comprehensible means... but by shear misfortune. I have seen her Mother, Jasmine, over the years when I have returned to Shreveport. I think of her now... especially now... and while I wish to include her... I have NEVER been able to contemplate her pain. Not now... not ever. I do remember the very best Halloween party in their garage... I remember the lenghts she went to as a fortune teller to make it real. If anyone is interested... however painful it might be.... I think we should go see Jasmine. I want her to know that while she can never forget... neither have we........... Who is with me??? Melinda
Valerie's mom, Jasmine Morelock-Field, has compiled a wonderful book of Valerie's letters and diary with beautiful artwork. If you have a chance to pick one up, they are a wonderful reflection of life as a youngster in Shreveport. A beautiful life cut way too short. I am blessed to have known her since she was born and we had so many times of great fun and laughter together.
